The Lagos State Command and Control Centre (LSCCC) has revealed that medical emergencies and road traffic incidents constituted the largest proportion of the 11,127 emergency cases recorded across Lagos State between January and November 2025.
The disclosure was made on Tuesday by the General Manager of the LSCCC, Mr Femi Giwa, during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Ikeja. Also in attendance were the Head of Information and Communication Technology, Ajijola Bashiru Rahman, and the Head of Administration and Human Resources, Adeeso Adeyinka.
The LSCCC serves as the central hub for emergency and disaster response coordination in Lagos State, overseeing the deployment, monitoring and demobilisation of emergency resources, while managing the state’s toll-free emergency lines, 767 and 112.
Speaking on the Centre’s performance during the period under review, Giwa said the agency handled 11,127 emergency incidents, cutting across medical, transportation, fire, security and infrastructure-related emergencies.
“The Command and Control Centre, which functions as the nerve centre for real-time monitoring, communication and dispatch of emergency services across Lagos State, received and coordinated responses to medical emergencies, road accidents, fire outbreaks, security incidents and other emergencies,” he stated.
A breakdown of the data showed that medical emergencies ranked highest, with 2,192 cases, closely followed by road traffic incidents, including broken-down vehicles and fallen or dislodged containers, which accounted for 2,188 cases.
According to Giwa, fire-related incidents, including structural and vehicle fires, were recorded 1,922 times, while civil disturbances, such as fights and riots, accounted for 732 incidents.
He further disclosed that robbery-related cases, including household theft, were reported 410 times, while infrastructure-related incidents, such as PHCN pole sparks and pipeline vandalism, accounted for 334 cases.
“In addition, the Centre recorded 57 cases of building collapse, 323 incidents of violence against persons, and 40 cases of domestic violence during the period under review,” Giwa added.
An analysis of emergency incidents by Local Government Areas (LGAs) revealed that Alimosho recorded the highest number of cases, with 1,507 incidents, followed by Eti-Osa with 1,283, while Ikeja ranked third with 1,169 incidents.
Other LGAs recorded the following figures: Oshodi-Isolo (908), Kosofe (874), Ikorodu (711), Surulere (519) and Lagos Island (495).
According to Giwa, Amuwo-Odofin recorded 482 incidents, Lagos Mainland had 457, Ibeju-Lekki recorded 447, Agege had 379, Mushin recorded 341, Ojo had 289, Shomolu recorded 274, and Ifako-Ijaiye had 269 incidents.
He added that Badagry recorded 237 incidents, Apapa had 189, Epe recorded 159, while Ajeromi-Ifelodun recorded the lowest number, with 146 incidents within the period.
The LSCCC boss urged Lagos residents to promptly utilise the state’s emergency toll-free lines, 767 and 112, whenever emergencies occur.
“These numbers are critical to effective emergency response in Lagos. Our trained professionals receive the calls, ask relevant questions and ensure that the appropriate responders are deployed,” he said.
Giwa also advised callers to remain patient and provide accurate information, noting that emergencies vary in nature and require tailored responses.
“Only a few states in the federation have this level of emergency response infrastructure,” he said, adding that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has established a robust framework to enable the Command and Control Centre to function effectively as the coordinating hub for first responders and emergency operations across Lagos State.
