NOSCEF believes Nigeria’s security crisis requires collaborative action, with Elder Oibe stating, “There’s no gain saying that Nigeria needs help to curb this madness of insurgency, kidnapping and terrorism troubling the soul of this nation.”
He supports any assistance aimed at restoring peace, provided the Nigerian government is involved, saying, “In whatever way this help comes, as long as the Nigerian government is in the know, it’s a welcome development.”
Oibe aligns with former Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida’s position that terrorism must be confronted decisively, questioning why anyone would oppose efforts to eliminate terror groups that kill innocent citizens.
He emphasized that the focus should be on ending terrorism and restoring peace, regardless of who provides the help, saying, “Whether it’s American, Indian, or Togolese support, it should be welcomed.”
Oibe’s remarks come amid a national debate over reported US airstrikes targeting terrorists in Nigeria, with concerns about sovereignty and geopolitics.
He insists the priority is Nigerian lives, saying insecurity has cost the nation too much.
