The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 152 personnel across Ebonyi to ensure safe roads during the festive season, with 258 special marshals stationed across six units in the state.
Sector Commander, Daniel Asanya, stated this in an interview with NAN on Thursday in Abakaliki, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach to road crashes from now till January 15.
The focus is on maintaining smooth traffic flow and swiftly evacuating damaged vehicles, especially articulated ones. Asanya urged the public to call the FRSC’s free toll number, 122, for immediate assistance.
Hot spots have been identified and adequately manned, with personnel presence expected to deter traffic infractions. The corps will also intensify sensitization efforts, reminding motorists, especially tricyclists, to obey traffic rules, noting that “only the living celebrate.”
Asanya advised tricyclists to be cautious, given the vehicle’s limitations, and passengers to remain vigilant and report any reckless behavior.
