
Mr Ado Adamu, the Acting Commander of the Ringim Local Government Unit of the FRSC in Jigawa, confirmed the tragic incident to NAN on Thursday.
Adamu revealed that the horrific crash, involving a Volkswagen car carrying 23 passengers, was caused by a devastating tyre burst and reckless speeding.
He stated that the catastrophic incident, which occurred on Thursday at 4:45 p.m., involved 23 passengers, comprising seven males and 16 females.
The unit commander disclosed that 11 passengers, including five males and six females, were fatally injured, while 12 others – seven males and five females – suffered severe injuries.
According to him, the bodies of the deceased and the injured were rushed to Ringim General Hospital.
Adamu said FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Umar Matazu, has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Adamu said the victims were traveling from Bauchi state to Kankia local government area of Katsina state.
